Dear Growing Leader,

Almost everything we do is related to our purpose, “Sean Oliver, Inc exists to serve by equipping leaders” or we don’t do it.  And Coaching certainly is one of the most intentional ways that I equip leaders.

Executive Coaching is one of the most popular activities used by management development professionals today.  Business leaders are finally learning what professional athletes have known for years…You simply can’t become the best at what you do without a great coach! Behind every great player is a great coach!

Lots of companies and individuals have discovered the power of having a coach assist them in getting better results in a variety of areas of their life.  So much so, that many have adopted the “coach” moniker despite their lack of experience, training and sincere desire to assist their clients in becoming successful.

Having a coach gives you an outside perspective to see what you don’t see.  A safe harbor to share what you are really thinking.  A coach is your partner in your success and is what separates the amateurs from the professionals... the bench warmers from the MVPs.  The more successful you want to become the important it is to partner with people that specialize in improving your performance and getting you to the next level.

Our Coaching Approach

All of the coaching clients that I work with, regardless of
industry or income, are served using the same general approach.  We must first agree on a few
basic but key ideas.

  1. You have to want to get to the next level.  There are lots of things people can choose to do with their time, but convincing people to do something they don’t want to do is not something that we waste much time doing.  This means that you know there is a gap between your current behaviors and the behaviors you desire to see lived out everyday.  You may not know how to change them, but you are clear that they must change if you are going to be as effective as you want to be.  It is not intentions that will determine your success, but daily behaviors of each person in your organization that will determine whether you succeed or fall short.

  2. Improving behavior and performance must be intentional and a consistent process if you want to see consistency and ongoing improvement.  You must understand that you didn’t get to where you are at today overnight and you won’t get out of it overnight either.  We value the importance of continual improvement and continual learning. As a result, we intentionally partner with our clients for months and even years in helping them get the results they desire.  Our emphasis is always on the process not a single one-time event. With that said, many of our clients begin to see the impact of coaching from their first session.
